The formula is supposed to be a “sheer cream-liquid” that gives the skin a “soft, natural glow.” The liquid version of the Shimmering Skin Perfector is the sheerest option, though it is still a noticeable highlighter when applied on top of bare skin or foundation. I personally prefer using the liquid for mixing in with base products (like foundation, moisturizer, or primer) for an all-over luminosity, and then defer to the cream or powder versions for spot highlighting (cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and so forth). The texture is thin, watery (not in a bad way), and very spreadable across the skin. It doesn’t emphasize pores or look too shimmery on the skin, even when blended all-over. On me, it doesn’t seem to decrease or increase the wear of my base product, and as a standalone highlighter, it stays on well for seven and a half hours. The pump mechanism is hard to control if you want just enough for cheeks, as it tends to pump out enough for all-over.

This is a liquid highlighter that comes in a bottle with a pump, which tends to pump out at least as much as you’d need to mix in with a base product (foundation, moisturizer, primer, etc.), so you’ll want to have a smaller sample jar on hand for excess if you plan to use it for spot highlighting. The liquid version of Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors is designed to be sheer, and it is just that–sheer–though this one is naturally darker and will give a little color to the skin for fair to medium skin tones. When mixed in, I get a very, very subtle glow and warmth, but it doesn’t add really noticeable color–it’s not as if I used self-tanner, so if the darkness of the color has made you wary of mixing it with a base product, it might surprise you. The texture is lightweight, thin and almost watery (not in a bad way), which is easily spread across the skin without lifting base products, if you prefer to apply on top of other products. On its own, it wears for seven and a half hours, and when I mixed it, it didn’t interfere with the longevity of the base product.

Becca Rose Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid)
Becca Rose Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid)
Becca Rose Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid)
Becca Beach Tint Lip Shimmer Souffle ($24.00 for 0.08 oz.) is supposed to be a “double dose of pigment and shimmer” that’s hydrating and leaves lips looking smoother with shine that “lasts for hours.” I found the texture of the gloss to be very different and hard to describe; it’s smooth, but almost dry and clingy, and it’s incredibly tacky after about fifteen minutes on the lips. The gloss is “marbled” as it combines two colors, and they do, in fact, twist out as two colors, and trying to mix them on the lips is not ideal. The applicator feels like a lightly flexible, silicone, slanted tip, but it’s silicone itself is slightly stiff and again, not ideal for application. Click-type glosses also contain less products than more conventional twist-top/doe-foot glosses. After I’d click up gloss, apply, and close, when I reopened, there would always be a blob of gloss waiting. The pigmentation tended to semi-sheer to semi-opaque, which sometimes applied quite unevenly. I will review the other three shades soon!

Here are the other half of the new Becca Beach Tint Lip Shimmer Souffles ($24.00 for 0.08 oz.), which is a lip gloss described as having a “double dose of pigment and shimmer” that is also hydrating with shine that lasts for hours. I reviewed the first half here, if you missed it! To recap, the texture of the gloss is unusual: it felt smooth, but it almost felt dry, clung to the lips, and got very tacky after fifteen minutes of wear. The way the gloss is in the tube is that there are two distinct shades, and they aren’t mixed, so you have to mix them as you apply, which doesn’t always work well. I also had issues where the gloss would leak out about one or two clicks’ worth of product, even after I used all that I had initially clicked out. The pigmentation tended to semi-sheer to semi-opaque, which sometimes applied quite unevenly.

If you’re unfamiliar with Becca’s liquid highlighter, here’s a summary: it’s a “sheer cream-liquid” that gives a “soft, natural glow” with a “water-light” texture. Liquid highlighters are a good option for someone who likes a more multi-tasking highlighter, and they have a tendency to run sheerer and/or subtler on the skin (but it can depend on the formulation–it is true with Becca’s, which is designed to be subtler compared to their cream and powder highlighters). It can be mixed in with other products, like your moisturizer, primer, or foundation, as well as patted over your base products. The water-like texture makes it easy to apply over bare skin. It spreads well and evenly across the skin, and it has mixed well with anything I’ve tried with it (moisturizer, primer, foundation). It also worked well patted on top of the cheeks as a more precise highlighter, but the finish is more dewy than overtly shimmery, so some may find it too subtle as a result (I would recommend the pressed for you!). Over bare skin as a cheek highlighter, it lasted for seven and a half hours on me, and when I tried it mixed with my foundation, it didn’t have an impact on the longevity.

Sculpt, widen, and brighten your eyes with Ombre Rouge Eye Palette. Matte shades provide pigment-rich tones to effortlessly create a variety of looks that go from subtle to bold. These shadows are infused with green coffee oil, which awakens the eyes and smooth the lids, while a built-in priming effect extends the wear of your shadow. With warm and cool undertones that are ideal for all skintones, this palette’s versatile formula can be used wet or dry as an eyeliner.
Create your perfect cheeks with this effortlessly buildable formula. Infused with antioxidant vitamins for all skin types, even the most sensitive, it’s enriched with micro-fine minerals and antioxidant vitamins to achieve a natural-looking, flushed appearance. Wear it alone or layer it over BECCA’s Beach Tint for added luminosity. [Editor’s note: It appears that this is a relaunch and/or reformulation of Becca’s Mineral Blush formula. It is unclear whether Damselfly will return as well.]
Here are eight shades of Becca Mineral Blush ($32.00 for 0.20 oz.) that I bought when I spotted them on Sephora this past week. There is a ninth blush, Damselfly that has been out forever, but it is out of stock and I’m not certain when or if it will be coming back into stock… which I’ve apparently reviewed before (in 2012), so I’ll try to see if I still have it and redo swatches.
From what I can tell, the range has gone through a slight packaging and labeling update, but the ingredients don’t seem to have changed from existing shades when compared against the list I have from 2012. Nightingale, Hyacinth, and Lantana are brand new, though! I hope to review these over time, but for now, enjoy these swatches!
Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed is supposed to be a “creamy powder luminizer” that gives a “superb natural glow.” In general, I think Becca’s highlighters have a really great, soft and smooth consistency with excellent color payoff and a high-shimmer finish. It’s not a highlighter for those who like their highlight subtle, as it is very bright and reflective unless you use a light hand. Champagne Pop is soft, blendable, and easy to apply with good pigmentation that can be sheered out or applied at full intensity. I find it can emphasize the skin’s natural texture at times, so it depends on the application. I like using a fan brush or a feathery, less dense highlighting blush to get a luminous glow that looks good without compromising the way the skin’s texture looks. On me, it wore for eight and a half hours before fading slightly.
If you already have Moonstone and Opal, the two layered together look identical to this. I would argue that Champagne Pop has a stronger sheen and has a few slightly larger shimmer particles in it (it seems almost looser in the pan, though not really dry or powdery). You can also see my Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Guide for all things Becca highlighters. Towards the end of the post, you’ll find swatch comparisons between the three as well as Moonstone and Opal layered and swatched next to Champagne Pop.

If it wasn’t apparent by the abundance of sneak peeks, but we are in the throes of fall color collections and releases. July you say? Well, they come a little earlier everywhere and maybe by 2020, we’ll be looking at fall in April The best thing I can do for you is providing early swatches while I work on the testing and writing portion of the review process. (Testing takes the longest, followed by finding dupes, in case you were curious.) For total clarity, I purchased the Becca and Tarte palettes, while bareMinerals sent theirs as a press sample.
It has a moderate golden sheen to the skin that gives off a glowing appearance but doesn’t emphasize pores. The texture was soft, smooth, and easily blended on the skin. It was mostly opaque, so I’d recommend using a lighter hand or less dense brush if you prefer sheerer coverage or want to build up the color in layers. On me, this shade wore well for eight hours before fading.
Formula Summary | Becca Mineral Blush ($32.00 for 0.20 oz.) is supposed to be a “delicate powder blush” with a “buildable formula” that gives a “natural-looking, flushed appearance.” They typically have a soft, creamy consistency that is a little denser than the average powder but not truly dense. Some of the very shimmery shades feel a little dry compared to the more pearly ones. I found the formula to be incredibly easy to apply and blend on the skin without any need for special tricks; they felt very grab-and-go, the kind of blush where there’s no fight to diffuse and soften edges or get even coverage. They are more pigmented than what I’d term as “buildable,” which some will appreciate, some will be disappointed by. The wear ranges from seven to nine hours with the brighter and more satin-to-matte shades lasting longer. My favorite part of the formula is the luminous sheen they give to the skin, so they don’t look too shimmery on the skin. I think if you find Becca’s pressed highlighters to be too shimmery, you may find their blushes more up your alley with respect to finish.

Becca Ombre Rouge Eye Palette ($40.00 for 0.20 oz.) is a set of five, warm-toned neutral eyeshadows with matte and satin finishes. It’s a nice palette overall, and it’s not quite as dupable as your typical neutral palette, but there are a fair amount of dupes for each shade. All five shades coordinate well with each other, and I liked that the finishes ranged from matte to satin, so you could get a little more depth out of the combination while also having an easier time blending out the shades.

It had decent to good color coverage that was buildable from semi-sheer to semi-opaque with a strong sheen. It’s the type of blush that looks as if you applied a separate highlighter over your blush, because the underlying color seems less connected to the warmer sheen. The texture was blendable but a little powdery, slightly dry, though it looked good on the skin. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before fading along the upper cheek area.

It was intensely pigmented–by no means buildable–to the point where you’ll want to use a lighter hand when applying (and fairer skin tones may want to use a more feathery, airy brush as well) as a little goes a long way. The texture was soft, firmer than the more shimmery shades, but still easily blended during application. The color didn’t turn patchy or appear uneven, despite it being such a rich color (which I naturally over-applied the first time I used it!). I suspect this will look cooler-toned on those with naturally cool undertones, as one I diffuse it, the color looks warmer on me due to my undertones. The color lasted for nine hours before fading slightly.

If you love your blush ridiculously pigmented and true-to-pan, then this blush might be up your alley! On the other hand, if you were hoping for the buildable formula that Becca describes, you’ll find this to be much too intense. The pigmentation is rich where you don’t need much (the barest tap of the brush on the surface yielded plenty of noticeable color on my cheeks), and the saving grace is the formula remained quite blendable, which is really a must with such an opaque shade as this one. The more I blended it out, the less orange and more of a warm red it looked on my skin tone, but it may look redder or more orange depending on your coloring. The texture was firmer and less dry compared to the shimmery shades, but it wasn’t stiff. The color stayed put for almost nine hours before there was any color breakdown.

Of the shades I’ve tried, this one seemed to have the least shimmer and sheen, but it wasn’t quite matte; as I buffed and blended the powder into the skin, it retained a natural finish that was less than a true satin but definitely not matte. It had mostly opaque color payoff (which makes it less true to the “buildable” quality of the formula), which may be great for some but too much work for others. I would recommend using a lighter hand or a more feathery brush to start off with this to figure out how much (or little) you need for your particular skin tone and application style. The texture was firmer than all of the other shades, and there was a slight dryness to it yet it wasn’t really stiff. It wasn’t quite as easily blended out as the majority of the line, but it wasn’t a lot of extra effort in comparison, which was good news. This shade wore for eight and a half hours before fading around the edges.

The blush had good, mostly opaque color payoff with great ease, and at this point, I’m honestly surprised Becca went with a “buildable” marketing push on these when the majority of the range is rather pigmented! The texture is soft, lightly dense and almost creamy, with excellent blendability–it nearly applied itself as it was diffusing as I applied it. While it had a more shimmery finish than some shades in the line-up, it didn’t emphasize pores and sat naturally on the skin. The finish is definitely more subdued than Becca’s more famous pressed highlighters, as a reference point. On me, the powder wore for just over eight hours before I could tell it was fading.

The color payoff of this shade was more in line with what the formula is supposed to be–buildable–as the color was semi-sheer to semi-opaque. It had a soft, blendable texture that wasn’t powdery nor was it too firm. It applied with ease, as the powder diffused softly along the edges and didn’t turn patchy or appear uneven in the end. This could be more like a satiny bronzer for some skin tones that won’t get too bright, as there is a muted quality to the color overall. On me, the blush lasted for eight and a half hours before fading slightly.

This shade had semi-opaque to opaque coverage that applied evenly and smoothly with little effort. The texture was soft, finely-milled, and smooth to the touch, which is probably why it blended so nicely! The pearly sheen gave the skin a soft glow without emphasizing pores or the skin’s natural texture, and if you don’t like to see visible shimmer, this might be one to consider as translates it all sheen. This is another shade that may also work as a bronzer for some skin tones, depending on how warm and mid-tone you like yours. When I tested the blush, the color wore well for eight hours before fading.
